Dynamic Business Consultants
has been awarded the 2007
Microsoft Dynamics GP™
Partner of the Year. DBC
were finalists along with
Professional Advantage and
Oakton and were announced
winners last Friday evening
at the Microsoft Australia
Partner Conference 2007 at
Hamilton Island. The award
was accepted by Terry
Bolden, Matilda Paton and
Geoff James who were
representing DBC at the
week-long conference.
DBC’s submission was based
around the implementation of
Jackson & Jackson. A number
of challenges had to be
overcome; these included the
geographical location, short
timeframe to go live, and
the lack of internal
accounting expertise.
Originally a branch of Haden
who used Pronto software, a
new company called Jackson &
Jackson Refrigeration Pty
Ltd was formed on 1st
December 2006 following a
management buy-out.
Jackson & Jackson came
across Dynamic Business
Consultants at the ARBS
Trade Show in Sydney and
then spoke to an existing
DBC customer nearby in
Cairns. Subsequently, the
company went ahead to put in
an order through DBC for
Microsoft Dynamics GP and
WennSoft Service Management
with a requirement to go
live in 2 weeks.
Despite being located in
Innisfail QLD (90Km’s south
of Cairns), DBC are able to
successfully support Jackson
and Jackson using
Microsoft’s remote
connection technology.
Consultants were on site to
install the software and
provide training. An
in depth knowledge of this
vertical allowed DBC to ‘Pre
– Configure’ both Dynamics
GP and WennSoft prior to the
install on site so that the
client could perform all
critical operational
processes from 4th
December.
Key aspects of the software
solution were
-
The ability to cater for
Service Management
requirements including
Maintenance contracts,
Technician Scheduling
and Tasking, Equipment
Maintenance and, of
course, all related
financial information.
-
The ability to manage
large and complex
construction projects
with deep tasking
structures. Still many
resulting from the
devastation caused by
Cyclone Larry in March
2006.
The solution has allowed
this business to undergo a
major expansion programme to
meet the increased demand
for Refrigeration,
Air-Conditioning and
Electrical Services in the
Cairns to Cardwell and
Atherton Tablelands region.
Jackson & Jackson has grown
from just two staff to
around fifty and the future
looks very bright indeed for
this locally owned business.
DBC have focused on
Microsoft Dynamics GP in
specific verticals around
two complimentary ISV
software providers –
WennSoft and Horizons – with
specialist expertise and
software tools. This clear
and specific focus defines a
capability set, to support a
clear match between customer
requirements and DBC
deliverables, ensuring that
appropriate customers can be
acquired economically,
serviced effectively and
built into long-term
relationships.
By focusing on specific
market verticals, the
business has been able to
expand both organically
(building internal
specialist skills and
selling them into targeted
markets) and inorganically,
by acquiring customers and
staff of other
organisations. The critical
mass of work necessary to
support the requisite
specialist skills for
complex industries
effectively creates a
barrier to entry for
competitors, including
others in the Dynamics GP
space.
Current vertical markets
in focus are:
·
Manufacturing – particularly
process, but also discrete;
·
Service industries,
including maintenance
contract management,
professional services, and
integration project
management;
·
Construction industry,
particularly specialised
project management; and
·
Equipment management and
rental.
Initial focus on these two
key software solutions –
WennSoft Service and
Construction, and Horizons
Manufacturing – has provided
an excellent marketing hook,
and over time both have
developed into deep and
effective organisational
relationships.
Underlying its
specialisation, the firm has
always maintained core
financial skills at a high
level, with qualified
accountants on staff to work
on customer projects.
Customers value these skills
highly, particularly where
the introduction of new
systems is expected to help
drive new financial
disciplines through an
organisation. This value is
evidenced in the high ratio
of long-term support
relationships and renewal of
support agreements.
DBC continues to focus
closely on their chosen
vertical markets, and to
leverage their existing
(growing) client base, with
aggressive annual plans that
have consistently grown the
revenue base by in excess of
35% each year for the last 5
years.
